Social isolation can make dementia symptoms worse. It is also unhealthy for caregivers, and can make a difficult task seem impossible.

Memory Cafés are one way to combat social isolation for both caregivers and their loved ones with dementia. They are safe spaces where caregivers and their loved ones can meet others who are going through the same experience, socialize with each other, enjoy a meal, play games, and listen to music without the worry or embarrassment that might occur in other public settings.

Caregivers must accompany their loved ones. Memory Cafés are not daycare, respite care, or a drop off. Caregivers are always welcome to attend alone, if they wish. Visitors and other interested parties are welcome to attend as well.

Refreshments will be provided.

There is no cost or fee to attend, though donations are accepted, and an RSVP is preferred, but not required (so that we can have an idea of how much food/drink to prepare). If you'd like to attend, or would like more information, please email Jaime L. Hathaway at jlhathaway@protonmail.com.
